According to Trading Standards, 19 out of 20 cars converted to gas by independent Installers (not Manufacturers) leak gas. Last year they converted 70,000 cars.

Road vehicles - Construction and Use 1984

Schedule 5, Para.94.

“No person is permitted, or allowed to permit another person, to drive a vehicle which is not completely safe on gas.”

In short, should your car develop a fault in it’s gas system,

the car is illegal on the road.

This paragraph make no allowances for dual fuel cars as the problem is specific;

If there is a problem on gas, regardless of what other fuel the vehicle may have, it is illegal on the road.
