Competence

Did You Know?

At Present there is nothing to stop a School leaver from finishing school and setting up as a bona fide L.P. Gas convertor of motor vehicles (funds permitting).

A motor mechanic will normally have to undergo an apprenticeship (but not officially required by Law).

A common Plumber should  have undergone an apprenticeship. He is also is required by Law to become C.O.R.G.I. Registered (if working with gas) and qualified before fitting / installing  / servicing various gas fittings, cookers , boilers, fires, piping including several sections relating to L.P. Gas. (this includes Gas Bottle Handling and Storage).

Not so someone handling gas equipment for the purposes of installing gas equipment on motor vehicles.

The Government has made two exemptions in the Law to exempt these people from attending courses, sitting exams, and thus making them accountable, in Law, in the same way as the poor old Plumber is.

And let us not forget that the Convertor is fitting a Computer Engine Managed, High pressure, Gas tanked, Water cooled, High Performance Gas Regulator(s) and it’s pipework.

These kits are substantially more complicated than any central heating system, boiler, or fire, your average Plumber will ever see or handle.

And the government exempts these individuals from the Gas Standards required by Law to everyone else.

Given this, How can you be sure a school leaver didn’t convert you car ? And if he /she did, would you be happy or comfortable about it?
